I love romantic stories from Jane Austen, and Louisa May Alcott. Stories about love based in mutual respect, kindness and the kind that begins at first sight. Some of my favourite movies include Pride & Prejudice, Little Women, and About Time. The slow and stillness of those movies reflect how meaningful bonds between partners develop. This builds a quiet tension to the end of the movie where they begin their journey together. When Elias and Laura came to me with their wedding, I could see that same vintage romanticism quietly humming during their consultation and I already knew how I wanted to tell their story. Their energy matched that of Mr Bingley and Ms Jane Bennett and I wanted to bring that heirloom feeling their film.
